The Chairman's Message
From The Chair - September 2010

We return from our summer breaks to find a fully grassed oval with a brand new wicket for the forthcoming season. My congratulations and thanks to the Ground team who worked throughout the summer to produce this verdant surface.

Some of us had the pleasure of playing the Marylebone CC Golf Team at The Berkshire last month. Despite the final result, it was a tremendous day, further cementing our fraternal relationship with the Home of Cricket.

Members should be aware that we will be hosting a Cricket Festival next Easter to commemorate our 160th Anniversary. Melbourne and Marylebone will be sending top quality XIs to compete against HKCC's finest - as well as playing T20 matches against the PRC National XI.

During Chinese New Year in late January 2011, we are planning an ambitious tour of Melbourne in which we hope to play against the Antipodean MCC, in several sports. I very much look forward to speaking at a dinner in the fantastic MGC Stadium with over 100+ men and women of the HKCC present - fully resplendent in our Club's touring colours!

My thanks to those of you who made the AGM at the start of the summer. We now have an equitable representation of our sporting sections on the General Committee which augurs well for the future.

As the winter sports seasons approach, I look forward to seeing many of you on the boundary ropes, baselines and touchlines, as our sports men and women challenge for silverware over the next several months.
